- Gapless playback is without a doubt possible using ALAC and AAC at the very least, and probably MP3 as well although I couldn't say for sure off the top of my head. Certainly, if it used to be possible then it still is.
- Edit 2: Installed Spotify 0.9.6.81 and set up my preferences, deleted the update files that spotify made (also blocked spotify.exe and spotifyhelper.exe from creating those files again through my security suit) and the results are: Gapless playback & Crossfade tracks is working, even after restart, will monitor this thread to see when Spotify.
Gapless playback is turned off, however every song skips the gap of music without words and wow is it ever irritating. I have to close the app and force stop it before it goes back to normal, but then after a few songs, starts to slowly turn gapless again. Please help, this is truly awful and I am c.
Thanks for asking the Apple Support Communities for help with 'gapless playback'. I was unable to find anything titled with that exact term, but I was able to find the options for fade between songs, or what is known as crossfading in this help article: iTunes for Mac: Play songs. Please check these settings. I can see how if you have the crossfade setting set to 0 seconds, the system or alert could call it 'gapless'.Fade between songs
You can set iTunes to fade each song in (increase it in volume) while the previous song is fading out, so there are no gaps of silence between songs. This feature is called crossfading.
1 Choose iTunes > Preferences, and click Playback.
Gapless Playback Itunes
2 Select Crossfade Songs.
3 To change the amount of time it takes for the current song to fade out at the end and the new song to fade in, drag the Seconds slider.
When iTunes plays consecutive tracks from the same album, crossfading is automatically turned off, with no fading between the songs (or tracks).
To play songs without fading, deselect Crossfade Songs.
The second to last sentence there about consecutive tracks from the same album not having any crossfade enabled may help you determine which 507 songs this is actually occurring on, if necessary.
